Summer

Embark on a new adventure every day as you visit places such as the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Fountain Creek Nature Center, Santa's Workshop, and the Dinosaur Resource Center. Attend special performances and programs at the public library. Take an art class at the Bemis Art School. Enjoy warm summer days swimming, hiking, picnicking and relaxing with friends. Be active and have fun roller skating, bowling, practicing gymnastics, and more. Look forward to each and every day!

There is time before and after field trips to enjoy a wide range of engaging classroom projects and activities: art, science, cooking, pleasure reading, games, puzzles, building kits, and more. Following full-day field trips, choose busy activities, or relax and enjoy quiet pursuits or just being with friends. Create a keepsake journal of illustrations and writing, telling of your many experiences throughout the summer. Participate in the Pikes Peak Library summer reading program. Listen to stories read aloud to the group, selected for their engaging and wide appeal. Be creative, learn something new, develop a skill or talent, work on a team project and make new friends.

When you arrive in the morning, you are free to select from independent and small group activities in the classroom. Breakfast is served about 8:00, and then preparations are made for the day's activities. You and the other campers and teachers will meet as a group prior to your field trip departure. This provides an opportunity to review guidelines and safety rules, and to prepare for the experiences planned for the day. You will typically board the bus between 9:00-10:30, and return to the center between 1:30-3:30. Lunch is enjoyed on the daily field trip, often as a picnic in a park. Back at the center, you will have a little quiet time to relax upon your return, drawing and writing in your journal, or reading/browsing through books. An afternoon snack is served, and then you can choose from a variety of engaging individual and small group activities that are available within the classroom. Enjoy some outdoor time in the late afternoon, playing games on the center's playground. Parents are free to pick up campers any time after the group returns from the day's field trip. Weekly trip schedules are provided for parents.

Field trip transportation is by university bus, driven by a professional driver. These steel-cage buses are maintained routinely by the university transportation department. Buses are comfortably air-conditioned. Campers wear seat belts and receive careful supervision by the camp teachers at all times.

Bring a sack lunch every day. Lunches are stored in an ice chest that is carried along on field trips. Breakfast and an afternoon snack are provided as part of the program.

Enrollment is limited to 30 campers. You may choose to enroll Full Time, or Part Time being Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday/ Friday. Please call for details, we'll be happy to give you a tour of our facility and answer any questions.
